Sports... Gotta love em'. They give you a great sense of victory and accomplishment after a win and teach you to be humble after a disappointing loss. This weekend, two of our kids experienced the latter...
Kiale had his final baseball game of the season on Saturday. They had to play the Torpedos, the team that they took their first loss against last weekend. His team and the Torpedos were the top two in their league, so they had to meet again in the Championship game. They started the first inning ahead 4-0. The game ended in the final inning with a heartbreaking loss, the score being 8-9. Still, not much to be sad about at the end of his first year playing baseball. He went 3 for 3 on hits that day, scored 2, and had a couple of RBI's. Since he's only 6, he got over it all pretty quick and is looking forward to his awards banquet tomorrow night.
Kalani also had a tournament in Seattle. This one actually was pretty competitive, I'd say more so than any other tournament that they'd played in. Saturday, they went 2-1, losing the last game of the day after a bunch of errors on the part of the whole team. Today, they won the first two, which put them in the Championship Game. They ended up playing the SAME team that they lost to yesterday. It truly was a heartwrencher. They had a strong chance of winning, but the game ended with them losing 2-3. Second place isn't bad, it gives them something to look forward to next time. Now, they also know what they're capable of... :(
